Breathtaking landscape panoramas of Lake Whakamaru can be seen from the very start of this trail. Leading through open pasture and board-walked wetlands this is a feast for bird-spotters. If the lake is low bitterns may be seen feeding off shore. Piwakawaka (fantail) aplenty with tui and korimako vying for the flax flower nectar and native berries.

This trail ends at Snowsill Reserve 400m beyond the Mobility Trail entrance at Dunham Creek Reserve where basic toilets are available.
